Christopher M. Saldivar, 46, a resident of Bettendorf, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus in Davenport following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, where a prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
He was born Feb. 1, 1957, in Davenport, the son of Margarito S. and Celia B. (Ulloa) Saldivar. On Dec. 2, 1978, he was united in marriage to Debby A. Jackson in Bettendorf. Christopher was formerly employed for 15 years as a machinist for Bowe Machine in Bettendorf.
He was a graduate of Bettendorf High School and attended Hamilton Technical College in Davenport.
Christopher was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Musician's Union. He was an accomplished drummer and served as a D.J. for a number of years at local dances and other functions. For many years, he coached soccer and baseball for the Bettendorf Park Board and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Debby; his daughter, Patty Saldivar, of Davenport; his sons, Brandon and Joel Saldivar, both of Bettendorf; his grandson, Kole Saldivar; his mother, Celia Saldivar, of Bettendorf; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcy and Jerry Wickersham, and Joyce and Dick Eckstrand, all of Davenport, and Cindy and Mike Smith, of Bettendorf; and his brothers and sister-in-law, Victor L. and Silvia Saldivar, of Springfield, Ohio, and Skip Saldivar, of Bettendorf.
He was preceded in death by his father.
