Joyce E. "Dobie" Ekstrand, 66, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, after an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at the Runge Mortuary. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to The Cleveland Clinic Foundation (Lung Transplants) or CASI (Jane's Place).Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.
Dobie was born on October 23, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Margarito and Celia (Ulloa) Saldivar. She married Dick Ekstrand on April 20, 1963, in Bettendorf.
She loved to sing Karaoke and dance. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and went to every event they were in if she could. During her children's school years, she was very involved with the PTA and Booster Clubs. She enjoyed attending Jane's Place at CASI and was involved with several card clubs. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband of 47 years, Dick; daughters, Lori (Steve) Garlock, Clive, Iowa, and Kelli Ekstrand, Davenport; sons, Jay (Lisa) Ekstrand, Clive, Iowa, and Rick Ekstrand, Davenport; 10 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Abbie, Lexi, Rachele, Trevor, Ricky, Tyler, Dylan and Eric; mother, Sally Saldivar; two sisters, Marcy (Jerry) Wickersham and Cyndi (Mike) Smith; two brothers, Margarito "Skip" Saldivar, Davenport, and Victor Saldivar (Ohio); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Chris.
