Mrs. Bessie H. Dyer, aged 71, of Morris, died December 24 in Binghamton after an illness of several months.
She was born April 4, 1886, in her home at the top of Patrick Hill on the Morris-Oneonta road in the Town of Laurens, the daughter of Horace and Loretta (MacDonald) Herring. She was married to Fred C. Dyer on December 31, 1910, at her parents' residence in Morris. Mr. Dyer died in April, 1945.
A former school teacher, she lived all her life in the same residence except for about four years when she lived in the Village of Morris.
She was a member of West Laurens Community Church; Pornona, State and National Grange, and the Laurens Order of the Eastem Star.
Surviving are her cousins, Dr. Howard W. Naylor of Morris, Mrs. Florence Gorman of Tucson, Arizona: Addison Herring of Cooperstown; Mrs. Ada Peters of Utica; Claude T Herring of Laurens; Walter C Gardner of Bayside, LI; Mrs. Guy F. Axtel of Saugerties; Frank Gardner of Oneonta, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the West Laurens Community Church, with the Rev. Wilfred Lyon, pastor of the Morris Methodist Church, officiating. The body will be placed in the Bookout Funeral Home and await burial in the spring in Hillington Cemetery.
