"WEST LAURENS - Fred C. Dyer, well-known resident of Laurens township, died at his home a mile from West Laurens Monday at 4:25 p.m. after an illness of a month. Prayer service for the family will be held at his home Thursday at 1:30. Funeral will be held at 2 p. m. in Community Church, the Rev. Raymond A. Tennies of Cherry Valley, officiating. Burial will be in Hillington cemetery, Morris. Mr. Dyer, son of Lewis and Mary (Clinton) Dyer, was born August 18, 1889, in New Berlin, where he lived until the family moved to Laurens township, December 31, 1910, he married Miss Bessie Herring, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Herring, near West Laurens. They have lived here since. Surviving are his wife; his father; a brother, Harry C. Dyer, Laurens; two nephews, Howard Dyer, Laurens; Lyle Dyer, Johnson City; three cousins, Mrs. Charles Bunn and Mrs. Ray Speaker, Mt. Arlington, N. J., and Brightman Davis, Dover, N.J. In early life he was a farmer. In 1930, he was appointed highway superintendent for Laurens, where he served for eight years ..."
