W.J. ANKROM PASSED AWAY
(sic. middle initial in this headline in error, should be "D")

Death Claims Man Who Resided in Jefferson County For 62 Years.

William D. Ankrom, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed residents of Jefferson county died yesterday morning about 11:30 o'clock at his home in Cedar township after an illness of several months of paralysis. Although Mr. Ankrom had been ill for so long it was not until Tuesday that his condition became alarming and his family was summoned to his bed side.

Mr. Ankrom was born in Tyler county, West Virginia, December 22, 1833, and at the age of four years came with his father to Burlington, Iowa, the family moving to Jefferson county in 1838 and locating on the farm where Mr. Ankrom died. Here he made his home and spent his life with the exception of a short time spent in the west.

Mr. Ankrom was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Gilbert on March 24, 1874. Three children were born to them, all of whom are living. They are William J. of this city, Miss Grace who is at home, and Miss Eva who is in Seattle, Washington, and who will be unable to reach this city for the funeral.

Mr. Ankrom had been a member of the Cedar Presbyterian church for many years. He was a kind neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends.

The funeral will be held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the home conducted by Rev.Nash of Birmingham and the remains will be laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.
