DIED
ANKROM. In Jefferson county, Iowa, Sept. 10, 1878, Mrs. Hannah Ankrom, in the 70th year of her age.
Deceased was a native of Virginia. She came with her husband to Iowa in 1837 - stopping in Burlington one year and thence to this county, where she has lived to see it grow from a wild plain to a beautiful and properous community. Elder Hedrix officiated at the funeral, from the residence of Mr. John Whitham, which was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends, among whom were a number of the early settlers of this county. The deceased was for many years a faithful member of the Church of Christ, and the friends have not only the sympathy of the community, but the consolation of the gospel of Christ in this hour of affliction.
