Elise P. Pelletier, 83, a resident of Castleton, died September 27, 2012, at the Pines in Rutland.

She was born October 6, 1928, the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Lamore) Patenaude.

Mrs. Pelletier was a graduate of Castleton State Teachers College and was a devoted educator in several Rutland County schools.

In 1948, she married Aldore J. Pelletier and they raised their family in Poultney and later in 1969, moved back to Castleton to her family's farm.

Mrs. Pelletier was a member of St. John's Catholic Church of Castleton and also a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Vermont Retired Teachers Association, as well as an avid quilter and a member of the Maple Leaf quilters of Rutland.

Survivors include two sons, David A. Pelletier and his wife Ruth, and Stephen F. Pelletier his wife Ann, all of Castleton; and a daughter Joan Treadway and her husband Richard of Shoreham. She is also survived by her brother Oakley J. Patenaude of Chester Depot, Vt., and her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents and husband Aldore, and their son Ronald, as well as her sister Shirley.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, September 30, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 1, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Parish in Castleton. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Castleton.
