Louis (sometimes seen as Lewis) Wiseman was the son of Philip Wiseman (1775-1861) and Mary Graham (c1770-???), who married April 19, 1800. They had at least five children.

Louis married Precilla (Priscilla) Wilson (1815-1881) on 15 Feb 1831 at Harrison County, Indiana. Louis and Priscilla were the parents of seven known children, namely:

1. Philip Mason Wiseman (1833-1893)
2. Malinda G. (or C.?) Wiseman (1835-1840)
3. Mary Margaret Wiseman Ward (1837-1924)
4. Joseph Wilson Wiseman (1840-1926)
5. Amanda E. Wiseman Hubbard (1841-1881)
6. George Peter Rice Wiseman (1844-1899)
7. Thomas Charles T. Wiseman (1848-1926)
8. Julia Ann Wiseman Rothrock (1850-1903)
9. Rebecca Ellie Wiseman Askren (1853-1927)
10. Emily Wiseman (1855-1861)
