George P.R. [Peter Rice] Wiseman, of Spencer Township [Harrison County, IN], died last Thursday, after a brief illness of pneumonia. Mr. W. was in Corydon just a week previous, went home, took his bed and never left it alive. The deceased was a farmer, one of the best citizens of the county and highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was a soldier of the rebellion, having belonged to the Thirteenth Indiana Cavalry. He was a member of Gregg Lodge I.O.O.F., of this place, under the auspices of which order he was buried last Friday. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Furray of the Moberly M.E. Circuit, in the presence of a large number of friends of the deceased. He left a widow and eleven children. On Monday following a twelve-year-old son [Mitchel A.] of the deceased also died, of pneumonia. (from The Corydon Republican, January 4, 1900)
