Lucille later worked at the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Little Rock where she met John Green, her husband of 66 years both interested in education. Lucille attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville for two years, and graduated on the Dean's List, from the University of Central Arkansas in 1980, at the age of 52. She taught in elementary education, specializing in remedial reading, in England, North Pulaski County, and South Conway County school districts. Lucille was active in the Gideon Auxiliary for many years, a member of the Arkansas Teachers Association and the Retired Teachers Association. She was an active and devout member of Graham Chapel United Methodist Church in Conway and First United Methodist Church in England, Arkansas.
Lucille P. Green was preceded in death by her parents, J.A. and Stella Pounders, three brothers Woodrow, Hollis, and Alfred Pounders.
Lucille leaves behind her husband, John Green; a son John Stacy Green and wife, Monica; three daughters, Jennifer Leigh Johnson and husband, Arthur; Kathleen G. Rogers and husband, Dan Rogers; Mary Lynda Barham and husband, Charlie Barham; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 5 nieces, and 8 nephews.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm, on Tuesday, September 25, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, with Reverend Harold Claassen officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park with Gideon members: Don Presley, Travis Acklin, Bill Sevils, Danny Mallett, Jack Henderson, and Bill Taylor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Curtis, Stacy Green, John Green, Jr., Racheal Johnson, Roseanna Johnson, Kristen Johnson, Luke Rogers, Grant Rogers, Edwin Linck and Preston Linck.
