Daugher of Henry & Rosa (Lubes) Steinke.
Marie attended schools in Cairo and Dannebrog, Nebraska. On June 21, 1940, Marie married Leonard Pierce in Grand Island, Nebraska. They moved to Clarks in 1940 and Marie moved to Columbus in 1964. She worked as a cook at Elfran Cafe, the Coffee Shop, and at the bus depot. Marie took care of Mrs. Kropatch for many years. In 1974, Marie went to work at the hospital in Columbus and worked there for 15 years before retiring in 1985. Marie was known for her ability to remember family and friends birthdays and anniversaries and always sending them cards. She enjoyed baking for her family and friends and collecting birds.
