Daughter of William T. and Louisa C. Roach, Martha married David Bowles at Yalobusha County, Mississippi in 1871. They had a daughter, David Ella, born in 1874. Martha's husband passed away before 1880. On July 28, 1881 she married Jonathan Low, a widower with several small children, in Sardis, Mississippi. The couple had two more children of their own, Rachel Louise and Jonathan Jones Low. Following her husband's death in 1910, Mattie Low moved in with her step daughter, Martha Low Kibler and daughter Ora. She lived in the Kibler home until her death.
