Pearl Snyder was the fifth child of George G. and Rhoda Snyder. She was eighteen months old in the winter of 1879, when she died. The snow was so deep, they could only bury her on the south side of the hill on their property when they were able to dig a grave in a spot where the ground was not as frozen and snowbound as the rest of the city. George Snyder eventually donated this hillside and adjacent land to the city for the cemetery now known as Park City cemetery. Many of the Snyder family and descendants are buried surrounding Pearl, including her mother and three of her sisters. Her tiny grave, identified by a red sandstone marker has become somewhat of an attraction for the local school children and tourists visiting the area.
