Mrs. Antoinette Proulx,. 84, a Tupper Lake resident since 1897, died unexpectedly at 3 p m Tuesday at her home, 31 Water St. She had been confined to bed since she suffered an attack of pneumonia about two weeks ago. The body will repose at her home until Friday, when services will be held at Holy Name Church Internment will be in Holy Name Cemetery in the spring.

She was born at Cheneville, Que , July 24, 1876. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Isaac Mallette. and was married there in 1897 to Cyprien Proulx. They had since made their home in Tupper Lake.

Mr. Proulx was active in lumbering in this, area from the early 1890s until his retirement in 1948. He died here April 30, 1956.

Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Lawrence (Eva) Churco, Mrs Loren (Valeda) Burke and Mrs. Priscilla Demars, all of Tupper Lake; Mrs. Yvonne Cummings and Mrs. Harold (Jacqueline) Blair of Arlington, Vt.; two sons, Rene and Albert Proulx, died in recent years. Surviving also are one brother, Hermidas Mallette of Cheneville, Que. 27 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.
