- Mrs. Eva Antoinette Churco, 92, a
lifelong Tupper Lake resident, died
"Friday morning, Dec. 17, 1993 at
?Mercy Healthcare Center, where she
had been a resident since July 23id.
' She was born in Tupper Lake on
April 16,1901, a daughter of Cyprien
'Mathias and Antoinette Marie
'(Mallette) Proulx, who were among
this village's early settlers.
1 She attended the local schools and
was married on April 20,1919atHoly
Name Church by the Rev. Charles
Desrosiers, pastor, to Lawrence J.
"Larry"Churco. Mr. Churco, who was
employed by Oval Wood Dish Co.,
and later was with the S unmount staff
for 35 years, died in January, 1968.
The family home was at 31
McLaughlin Ave. and in recent years
she had resided at the Don Smith
Apartments.
Mrs. Churco was a communicant
and active in the St. Anne Society of
St. Alphonsus Church, an accomplished
cook, baker and homemaker,
and a member of the Auxiliary of
Benjamin Churco Post 3120, Veterans
of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by five daughters:
Mrs. William (Thelma) Knehr of Red
Bank,N.J.; Mrs. Kenneth (Betty Anne)
Varden, Mrs. Dorothy Delair, Mrs.
Robert (Patricia) Bedore and Mrs.
Ralph (Charlotte) Russell, all of
Tupper Lake; three sons: Benjamin
Churco of Poestenkill, N.Y., Warren,
of Saranac Lake and James Churco of
Frederick, Md.; 37 grandchildren, 53
great-grandchildren and one greatgreat
grandson. A daughter, Priscilla
LaRocque, died in 1984 and a son,
John Henry Churco, in 1951.
A Mass of Christian burial was
celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St.
Alphonsus Church with Msgr.
Edmund Dumas, parochial vicar, officiating.
Spring burial will be in St.
Alphonsus Cemetery. Memorial contributions
to High Peaks Hospice or
the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad may
be arranged through Richer Funeral
Home, which had charge of arrangements.
