Bessie was the daughter of Mills Norsworthy and Lorena Estelle Eley Norsworthy, her obituary has her father's name stated in error. By then, her mother was Mrs. Lorena Collins.
Bessie's obituary was found in the Virginian Pilot on August 10th, 1958 as follows:
"Norfolk Mrs. Bessie Norsworthy Forbes, 74, of 4832 Hampshire Avenue, Norview, died Saturday at 5:308 M. in a Norfolk hospital after illness of three weeks.
A native of Isle of Wight County, she had lived here 30 years. She was a daughter of Mills and Mrs. Lorraine Collins, and a widow of Simeon Lawrence Forbes.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Mildred Bryant of Norview; Mrs. Bessie Diggs of Mathews County; Mrs. Helen Osmundson and Mrs. Doris Osmundson, both of Princess Anne County and Miss Marjorie Forbes of South Norfolk; two sons, Ray Forbes and Simon N. Forbes, both of South Norfolk; three half-sisters, Mrs. Sadie Odom of South Norfolk; Mrs. Rena Nunnely of Norfolk and Mrs. Florence Bowen of Nags Head, North Carolina; 17 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park."
