Mr. McClellan was born October 8, 1882 in Hillsdale County in Michigan. He moved with his parents to Oklahoma in 1904 and homesteaded four miles east of Roll.
On January 25, 1913, he married Margaret Aderhold and in 1914 the couple moved to Strong City where he was the Ford dealer. They moved to Elk City in 1930 where he was employed as parts manager for Herring and Young then Sprowls, Cronin and Randall Companies for 47 years until his retirement at age 80.
He was a member of the Baptist Church former member of the Masonic Lodge and Odd Fellows.
Funeral services were held Saturday for James E. (Peck) McClellan, Elk City resident who died Thursday June 21, 1973 morning in Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Sayre, following an extended illness.
Interment was in Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel in Sayre.
Survivors include 2 daughters Mrs. Ray Hassell of Palestine, Texas and Mrs. Raymond Jarvis of Borger, Texas; 4 sons, C.E. (Bud) McClellan, of Phoenix, Arizona, Warren of Houston, Texas; Kermit of Borger, Texas and Johnny of Sayre; 1 sister, Mrs. Lula Emmitt; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Ralph; one daughter, Annie; his parents, and six brothers.
