Ferne L. Hay age 92 of Aledo, IL. died Sunday September 2, 2012 at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo.
Services are 1:30 PM Wednesday September 5, 2012 at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Pastor Seth Bowker is officiating. Burial is in the Aledo cemetery. She was born December 7, 1919 in Seaton, IL to Willard and Lela Allbee McNeal. She graduated from the former Seaton High School in 1937 and married Clifford Hay January 29, 1940 in Davenport, IA. He died June 20, 1997.
Ferne was employed at Servus Rubber in Rock Island for 15 years and assisted her husband in the operation of their farm in the old Gilchrist area retiring in 1972.
She was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, making dolls and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a son Marion (Patricia) Hay of Aledo, a daughter-in-law, Sandra Hay of Aledo, 5 grandchildren, Melissa Bruning of Sherrard, IL, Jeffrey Hay of Aledo, Justin Hay of Davenport, Denise Bowker of Joy, IL, Mindy Rushford of Wheaton, IL, 7 great grandchildren, William, Jacqueline, James, Josh, Elliot, Natalie and Jadon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter Nancy, 2 sons, Jim and Richard, 2 sisters; Gwendolyn Muhlenburg and Kathryn Mosley and 4 brothers; Wayne "Bud", Ray, Paul and Gene McNeal.
