NELIGH - Louie McKenna, 80, of Neligh died at his home Monday following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hoepfinger Funeral Home in Neligh with Charles Sodersten officiating.
Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Neligh. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Edward, John and Allen Jensen, Leslie Schooley, Eugene Mecke and Richard McKenna.
The body will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. William McKenna, he was born Aug. 18, 1891 at Otoe, Iowa. He came with his parents to Inman in 1901. In June 1915 he married Jennie Marwood at Neligh. They lived on farms in the Neligh vicinity until 1968 when they moved to Neligh.
Survivors include his widow, Jennie; three sons, Lloyd of Sanotone, Wash., Richard of Neligh and Gene of Clarkston, Wash.; five daughters, Mrs. Georgia Carlson of Ashton, Idaho, Mrs. Frank (Mildred) Warren of Pierce, Idaho, Mrs. Jack (Irene) McLeod of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Delbert (Rose) Jensen of Neligh and Mrs. Herman (Joyce) Pankau of Chula Vista, Calif.; one brother, Grover of Sanaquine, Utah; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Miller of Sanaquine, Utah, Mrs. Leonard ( Loretto) Dufphey of Battle Creek and Mrs. Edward ( Agnes) Hunter of Fairfax, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, eight sisters and two great-grandchildren.
