Edith Rushin was 97 years old when she passed away about 11:30 pm on August 15th at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, Georgia. She was a native of Forsyth County, Georgia and was born on August 19, 1914, the daughter of the late Jessie Oliver and Nora Castleberry Millwood, and spent most of her life in Sumpter County. She assisted her husband in his grocery store on South Lee Street during her early years and then later was employed by Manhatten Shirt Co.. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she attended a ladies Bible study class until her health declined.

Funral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, August 19th in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral chapel with the Rev. Keith Parks officiating. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to League of the Good Samaritan, Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee Street, Americus, Georgia. 31709.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, and her niece, Kay Millwood Bell of Leesburg, who has been assisting with her care the last few years in a very loving and caring manner. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Moncile Millwood of Americus.

Mrs. Rushin was preceded in death by her husband, Judson C. Rushin in 1969, and also four sisters and five brothers.

Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus and Greg Hancock Funeral Home was in charge.
