Leonard Millwood was the son of Jessie Oliver and Nora Agnes Millwood. He was also the twin to Loyce Marie Millwood Rahiser. He was married at one time to Bonnie Millwood in Pompano Beach many years ago. Several brothers and sisters predeceased him; Ralph, Raymond, Dorsey, Tommy, Loyce Rahiser and Annie Mae Greene, Dora, Bart and Mamie. He was born 83 1/2 years ago in Forsythe County, Georgia and has lived in Pompano Beach, Florida for many years before coming back to Americus 30 years ago to make his home. He lived with his sister Edith Rushin in her home. He had made a profession of his faith many years ago in Pompano Beach and became a member of the First Baptist Church there at the time. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army and served during World War II in France. He had also been stationed in Alaska during those years. He is survived by one sister Edith Rushin and one sister in law, Moncile Millwood. Many nieces and nephews of which I am one. He was proud of his Millwood heritage and spoke fondly of his great grandfather during my visits as well as his days of growing up and serving in the army. He had a good memory and could recall dates of birthdays and such up until he died. He will be missed! I don't know of many times during my life when he hasn't been close around somewhere. Services were held at 2:00 pm Tuesday from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus with the Rev. Rusty Maulding of the First Baptist Church officiating. The family received friends at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel from 6:00 pm un 8:00 pm on Monday evening May 19th.
