Ardell L. Helland, daughter of Knute and Lena (Olson) Helland , was born March 1, 1926 at Lake Preston, South Dakota. She grew up and received her education there. Ardell then attended General Beadle State College receiving her teaching certificate. She then taught country school in the Lake Preston area. On June 27, 1948 she was united in marriage to Monroe Jensen at North Preston Lutheran Church. The couple moved to Sioux Falls in 1959, where in addition to being a homemaker she began a career with Lewis Drug. Ardell retired from Lewis in 1989 as a department manager. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Monroe, her children, Dan, of Sioux Falls, Laurel (George) Riter, White Bear Lake, MN, and Mark, Sioux Falls, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Wendell. Pallbearers: Jason Heibult, Joshua Jensen, James Jensen, Joseph Jensen, Jeffrey Riter & Timothy Jensen. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, June 3, 2011 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, SD. Reverend Tim Thies, Officiating. Interment: 1:30 pm Friday, June 3, 2011, North Preston Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Preston, South Dakota.
