Funeral services for Norman Louis Kummer were held Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at 2 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Parkston, with Fr. Bob Krantz officiating. Music was furnished by the Sacred Heart Parish Choir, and Bonna McGregor, organist.

Interment was made in the church cemetery with Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Parkston, in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Matt Dewald, Aaron Dewald, Chris Kummer, Brian Dewald, Cody Ehlke, and Ron Miiller.

Norman Louis Kummer was born March 1, 1931, to Anthony and Elizabeth (Jungwirth) Kummer at Parkston. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School through the eighth grade. He served in the Untied States Army during the Korean Conflict from March 1952 until 1954 during which time he was awarded the Bronze Star.

He married Shirley Degen on June 2, 1955, at Parkston. Shirley died on December 30, 1988.

He married Pauline Miiller on May 1, 1998.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, Hutchinson County Conservation Board, Pheasant Country, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He died Monday, Jan. 3, at his farm near Parkston at the age of 73 years.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline, Parkston; four children, Sandy Dewald and husband, Richard, Yankton, Tami Ehlke, Scotland, Tim Kummer and wife, Lori, Mitchell, and Carrie Jo Heisinger and husband, Rob, Parkston; 14 grandchildren; three step-children; six step-grandchildren; five sisters; four brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; a sister; an infant brother; and a step-child.
