The Wellington Leader March 25, 1982

Mrs. Arvezene Winter, a former Wellington woman, died in Amarillo, Wednesday, March 17. She was 72.

Born in Greer County, OK she came to Collingsworth County about 1911 with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. N.C. Tennison, who farmed southwest of town.

She was married here to James Alvin Winter September 25, 1925. He died in 1940.

Mrs. Winter moved to Amarillo in 1946, and to Tyler in 1953. She returned to Amarillo in 1972. In Wellington, Mrs. Winder was a member of First Baptist Church and taught a Sunday School Class. She was a deputy sheriff of Smith County while living in Tyler, and was noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge. In Amarillo she was employed by the First National Bank and was an employee of Northwest Texas Hospital at the time of her retirement.

Survivors are two sons: Dr James A Winter of Crestwood, MO and Keith L Winter of Amarillo; three brothers, Clarence Tennison of Cave City, AR; Dr R C Tennison of Brownwood and Ralph Tennison of Wellington; five sisters: Mrs. Irene Bumpas and Mrs. Lou Bawcom of Wellington; Mrs. Bertha Turner of Amarillo; Mrs. Thelma McEchern of Pasadena, CA; and Mrs. Velma Roach of Artesia, NM There are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One son, Kenneth Wayne Winder died January 25, 1967.

Mrs. Odessa Bowen and Mrs. T.D. Nored of Sequin are sisters-in-law.
