According to the 1888 Mercer County, PA history, Samuel Coulter married Jane Moore and had 3 children: James, Catherine, and Martha, all of whom died before 1888, including Samuel. In 1938, Genie Coulter stated that the son James was not married, and that neither of the daughters raised any children; so this line of our Coulter clan is extinct. Samuel did have a namesake nephew, Samuel Coulter (1825-1916), who had 11 children and 61 grandchildren.
