Omer Clare Postle, Jr., 60, of 720 W. Lincoln, Ionia, died Wednesday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct 15, 1924, in Muir, the son of Omer and Elma Postle.
He was a 1942 graduate of Lyons High School. He served in the Army Air Force in World War II and received 12 special commendations.
He was a member of the Sheridan VFW.
He was a guard at Riverside Correctional Facility for 31 years, retiring in April 1983. He was also a former employee of Caswell Ford.
He was married to LaVon Kruel on June 2, 1945. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra Gillman of Belding and Mary Postle of Grand Rapids; two brothers, Ivan and Leo, both of Ionia; two sisters, Fern Farrington of Orange, Calif., and Elma Davis of Oklahoma City; and five grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir. Burial will be in Muir Cemetery.
