Thomas married Adeline Elizabeth Sherrill in abt. 1847. Adeline was the daughter of Jeptha Sherrill and Elizabeth McCorkle. Thomas and Adeline had 9 known children: William A., Thomas Jeptha, John H., Seborne A. (C.A), James J., Robert Franklin, Sarah A.E., Rufus Alonzo, and Mary Margaret Florence McConnell (my great grandmother). In 1900 Adeline is living with her son and reports 11 total children. There is an unknown infant buried in Back Creek cemetery, so maybe this is one, but I am not aware of the 11th child's name.

There is no other "McCormick" family in the 1850 census and I am unable to locate a Thomas McConnell in 1860 so I am certain this is the McConnell family as the names and ages are a close match with the exception of the wife's age:
