Gibbon resident, 98
KEARNEY - Margaret Francis Shiers, 98, of Gibbon died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at Mother Hull Home in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Church in Gibbon with the Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Burial will be at Gibbon Riverside Cemetery. Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon/Shelton in charge of arrangements.
She was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Herrick, S.D., to Fred and Nora (Deaver) Bundy.
On Jan. 24, 1934, she married Floyd Shiers. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Clifford "Bucky" of Gibbon, Ronald and his wife, Leah, of Terra Bella, Calif., Art and his friend, Jaci, of Lincoln and Loren and his wife, Joyce, of Ames, Iowa; daughters, Edith Brill of Gibbon and Marilyn Kraft of Heartwell; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family moved to the Gibbon area in 1918. She grew up there and graduated from Gibbon High School in 1931.
She, Floyd and their family lived in the Miller and Gibbon areas until they moved to Kearney in 1944. Baldwin Manufacturing employed her for many years. They retired and moved to Gibbon in 1972, and she spent many happy hours making quilts for the 11 grandchildren.
Memberships included the church, the United Methodist Women, Mary Martha Circle and Pioneers Club. She had been a resident of Heritage Cottage of Gibbon for five years.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Al; sons-in-law, Frank Brill and Chuck Kraft; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Shiers.
