Edith Lavonne Brill, 83, of Kearney, was greeted by her Savior in Heaven on January 10, 2018. She was born June 19, 1934 to Floyd E. and Margaret F. (Bundy) Shiers of Gibbon. Edith met her husband, Francis M. Brill, while working at the Wyoming Hereford Ranch, and they married in 1957. They lived in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, before settling in Kearney in 1965. Edith worked at Baldwin Manufacturing Company. Upon retirement, Edith enjoyed a wide variety of experiences—traveling, volunteering at Timberlake Ranch Camp, making over 200 quilt tops for the Sew & Sews, reading hundreds of books, and participating in many social groups— Pioneer Club, TOPS and Gibbon Red Hat Ladies, among them. She was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church. Since 2015, Edith had made her home at Welcov Assisted Living in Kearney, where she was delighted to live near several old friends as well as make many new friends.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Miriam (Daniel) Kuhn of Greenwood, Nebraska; sons, Mark (Coleen) Brill of Kearney, and Paul (Carol) Brill of Longwood, Florida; seven grandchildren, Clinton (Sarah Hollander), Jeremy, Kyle, and Tanya Brill; Lee and Brett Kuhn, and Joycelynn (Darrick) Rademacher; one great-grandson, Marcus Brill, and four step-great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Josie, Isaac, and Zoe Rademacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Brill; parents; brother, Alvin Shiers; sister, Marilyn Kraft; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Shiers and Frances Brill, and brothers-in law, Charles Kraft and William E. Brill, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church in Kearney, with The Rev. Clarence Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Gibbon Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Service.
