Obituary- The Parsons Sun

Mrs. Lena A. Bolander, widow of William H. Bolander, died at 11:48 a.m. Monday at the Labette County Medical Center where she entered on Aug.18.

Mrs. Bolander, age 86, had been ill the past two months. The Bolander home is at 3033 Washington.

She was born on Feb. 5, 1895, at Emma Mo. to William and Anna Libbert Fricke. She moved with her family to St. Paul in her childhood and attended school there., later coming to Parsons.

She and Bolander were married on Aug. 10, 1919. Bolander, a longtime employee here of the Gas Service Company, died on June 17, 1970.

Mrs. Bolander was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, its Vestonian/Semper Fidelis class and of the United Methodist Women.

Among survivors are two sons, Paul Bolander of 3112 Faye, Parsons, and Alfred M. of Wichita; three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Chace of Salina, Mrs. Mildred White of 2515 Main, Parsons and Mrs. Alfreda Brown of Humboldt; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; s brother, Joe Fricke of Idaho, and a sister, Mrs. Grace Stewart of Springfield, Mo.

She was preceded in death by two sons, William Junior Bolander in 1927 and Wilbur L. Bolander in 1976; also by two brothers and sisters.

Services for Mrs. Bolander are scheduled Wednesday at the Burris-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul B. Mitchell and Rev. Floyd C. Mossas, ministers. Burial will be at Oakwood.

The family will r4ecieve friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today, and has suggested memorials to the Wessley United Methodist Church.

Lena Fricke-Bolander was the second wife to William Harvey Bolander. She was the younger sister of his first wife, Cora Fricke-Bolander, who was buried in the same plot in 1918.
