WM ZAHN SR., 70 CITY RESIDENT 45 YEARS, DIES
William Zahn Sr., for over forty years an employee of the Smalley Mfg. Co. and
who retired three years ago, passed away last night at the home, 932 North Ninth
street. He was 70 years of age. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Saturday
afternoon from the home and at two o'clock from the First Lutheran church, Rev.
Ristad officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen.
The deceased was born in the town of Cooperstown July 31, 1860 and was married
48 years ago to Amelia Boettcher, and three years later they removed to this
city where they have since resided. He entered the employ of the Smalley Co. a
few years later and continued there until three years ago.
Besides his widow he is survived by one son, William Zahn Jr., two daughters,
Mrs. Christ Gilbert of this city and Mrs. Herbert Kuchral, Gary, Ind., three
sisters, Mrs. W. Uttech, Mrs. Chas. Rhode and Mrs. Carl Vettering, all of
Kewaunee, Wis., a brother, Charles Zahn of Sturgeon Bay and eleven grand-
children.
The remains were removed to the North Ninth street home of the deceased this
afternoon from the Shimek and Schwartz funeral parlors.
