Frank Jachek, 69?, of 617 North Eighth street, collapsed and died of a heart
attack in a pew at the Sacred Heart Catholic church late Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Zachek had emerged from the confessional a short time before and had
walked to the pew when he was taken suddenly ill and died in a few minutes.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Urbanek and Schlei
funeral home and at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart church, the Rev. I. M.
Schorn officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Zachek was born on a farm at Bolt, Kewaunee county, and spent his early
life in that vicinity. He located at Ladysmith where he operated a blacksmith
and general repair shop. Nineteen years ago he returned to Manitowoc and in
recent years was employed at the Kerscher sheet metal works.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and
Holy Name society.
Forty-six years ago he married Miss Louise Haase of Milladore, Wis. She survives
with three daughters, Mrs. Frank Novitski, Mrs. Louis Stangel, Mrs. F. A. Napp,
all of this city; two brothers, Anton on the home farm and George of Chicago; and
four grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home where the rosary will be recited at 8
o'clock this evening.
