Anton Stipek, 84?, of 1821 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon
at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Gervase Zanotti will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Drews-
Bleser Post, Manitowoc.
Mr. Stipek was born Nov. 10, 1894, in the Town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, son
of the late Joseph and Josephine Bai Stipek. He married the former Christina
Havlinek June 1, 1920, at Manitowoc, where the couple located. He was first
employed by Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., and then the past 38 years worked as
a contractor and builder. Mr. Stipek was a carpenter for 50 years and because
of his affiliation with the American Legion he donated his services and
constructed the Legion building at Manitowoc County Fairgrounds. He was a veteran
of World War I serving from 1918 to 1919 with Co. M. Third Battalion, IRTC. Mr.
Stipek was a member of the Manitowoc Eagles Aerie 706 Izaak Walton League,
Manitowoc Fish and Game, American Legion Post 88, 40 et 8, Master Builders Assn.
and a member of the 25-Year Club of the American Legion.
Survivors include the wife, a son, Louis of Manitowoc; a daughter, Mrs. Charles R.
(Gladyce) Robinson of Manitowoc; a brother, Joseph of Rt. 1, Whitelaw; a sister,
Mrs. Joseph Cizek of Rt. 1, Whitelaw, and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday.
