Son of Robert Sidney Pelletreau and Mary Woodruff Rogers, husband of Eva Young, whom she married on May 6, 1928 in Patchogue, New York, and mother of Nancy Young Pelletreau (married Joseph Roche).

Obituary - John R. Pedetreau, well-known surveyor mid professional engineer, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon at his home on South Country Road, East Patchogue. He was 57 years old. Born in Patchogue and a lifetime area resident, Mr. Pelletreau was surviving partner of the surveying firm of Havens, and Pelletreau, Patchogue. He entered into business with the late Archibald S. Havens of Center Moriches in the early 1930s. Mr. Pelletreau was a graduate of Blair Academy in New Jersey and attended Brown University, where he was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity, lie was a graduate of the Chamberlain School of Engineering in New York City and a licensed surveyor and professional engineer. He was a member and former president of the Board of Trustees of the Patchogue Congregational Church; a trustee of The Union Savings Bank of Patchogue; a former president of the Nassau-Suffolk Chapter of Professional Engineers; a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and a member of the Bellport Bay Yacht Club. He was, for 18 years, president of the South Bay Bank of Center Moriches, which merged with the Security National Bank. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Young Pelletreau; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Roche of Manhasset; a brother, Robert H. Pelletreau of Bellport: and a grandson, John Pelletreau Roche of Manhasset. Services were held Monday at the Pelletreau residence, conducted by the Rev. Stuart W. Van Cott, pastor of the Patchogue Congregational Church. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery under the direction of C. W. Ruland Sons Funeral Home.
