Clyde Meade, 88, of Coles Park, West Portsmouth, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Born August 22, 1923 in Scioto County, a son of John Alva and Faye (Elmore) Meade he was a wholesale route supervisor for Borden Dairy in Portsmouth retiring after 34 years of service. He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran, participating in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy, a member of the 446 Bomb Group Association; Voiture 40 & 8; James Dickey Post No. 23 of Portsmouth, serving with their Funeral Honor Guard for many years. He was also commissioned as Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his wife of 63 years; two daughters; one son, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 3 grandchildren; a step grandson; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters and one brother of South Bend, Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Hall, Phyllis Kempf and one brother, Rev. Robert Meade.
Funeral services will be conducted 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Burial will be in White Gravel Cemetery near Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the James Irwin Post 622 and William Baker Post No. 363.
