Angela Portrey Shepherd
1935 - 2012

Angela P. Shepherd of Spanish Fork passed from this earthly life on August 3, 2012 into the arms of our Heavenly Father. Angela was born on November 26, 1935 in Falls City, Nebraska to Joseph and Pearl Portrey. She was raised and attended school in Lincoln Nebraska until the age of 19 when she met and married Melvin Shepherd on April 7, 1955. Together they had four children, Melvin Shepherd Jr. of Spanish Fork, Katherine Fuller of Payson, Keith Shepherd of Terra Haute, IN and Teresa Shepherd (deceased). They lived and traveled much throughout the Midwest until settling in Spanish Fork, Utah in 1973.

Angela had a deep and abiding love for the Lord and the Gospels. She was an active member of St. Francis Catholic church and in her later years, San Andres Catholic church in Payson. Angela gave many volunteer hours as an alter server and lay person, taking communion to parishioners in hospitals, nursing facilities and homes. She took much joy in serving her Lord and others through the years and one year was named Utah Catholic woman of the year.

Our hearts are saddened at her passing but we rejoice in knowing she has reunited with loved ones and is free from her mortal limitations.

She is survived by her husband, 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the San Andres Catholic Church, 315 East 100 North, Payson. Friends may call from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery 1997 S. 400 E. Springville, Utah directly after the services. Following the interment a light lunch will be served at the church.

The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Spanish Fork Nursing and Rehab, the members of San Andres Catholic Church and family friend Paul Walstad.
