Bishop Michael Jarrell and the Rev. Angelo Cremaldi will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until time for services Monday. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
She is survived by three sons, James P. Doherty Jr., Patrick Allen Doherty and John Francis Doherty, all of Opelousas; two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Mary) LeBleau of Scott and Mrs. Richard (Miriam) Bourgeois of Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. Allen Hynson, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Southwest Louisiana Institute (now the University of Southwestern Louisiana), a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Roman Catholic church and a recipient of the Bishop's Medal.
She was also active in Scouting and the Academy of the Immaculate Conception Parents' Organization.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Doherty, and her parents Jesse and Marie Poulet Barnett.
The family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau.
