John Allison Smithey, 88, died yesterday at his residence at Route 2, Huntsville. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Laughlin Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom English officiating. The burial will be in the Belleview Cemetery. Mr. Smithey was a farmer and lifelong resident of Madison County. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. T. M. Phillips of Huntsville, Miss Lexie Smithey of Huntsville, Mrs. Charles F. Weaver of Decatur; two brothers, Thomas K. Smithey of Huntsville, and Robert Smithey of Quitan, Texas. Active pallbearers will be S. H. Freeman, B. B. Sisco, Alvin Sublett, John Berry, Shelby McCaleb, Dr. Charles H. Merry, Tom Dark, and J. O. Price.
