Emily Estes Shaw, 87, widow of Cedric M. Shaw late of Littleton., died Aug. 3, 2012 in Augusta. She was born August 12, 1924 in CT. The daughter of Alton and Gertrude (Coombs) Estes. Emily graduated as Salutatorian of Brunswick High School Class of 1942. Having spent summers in Littleton with her Aunt and Uncle, Grace and Bernard Estes, She met Cedric M. Shaw a local farmer and they were married on Oct. 30, 1942. Cedric and Emily operated the family farm for many years and then Emily began a career as a teller for Houlton Trust Co. Along with her husband, Emily was a devout and loyal member of the Littleton Baptist Church where she was a member for 69 years. She served as Deaconess for 65 years and recieved an "Honorary Deaconess for Life" award. She and Cedric were actively engaged with the youth of the church and encouraged and supported them in their activities. Emily was also active in the Order of Eastern Star. Following retirment Emily joined with Cedric in creating on their farm "The Pastime Museum", a collection of antique farm equipment, tools and memorabilia donated by farm families from around the county and beyond. The collection was featured in many news papers and television accounts and became a tour site from 1988 to 2002 when the entire collection was danated to the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton. Emily activity worked at the museum until Cedric's death in 2008, at which time she moved to Augusta to be closer to her niece Judy Wathen.

Emily is survived by 23 nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Diane Estes of Harpswell.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 65 Cedric Shaw, 2 brothers George and Lewis Estes, and on sister Dorothy Wakely. Interment will be in the Littleton Cemetery. (Donald Dunn Funeral Home)
