In Memory of Mrs. Rodgers:
Mrs. Abbie Rodgers, wife of Mr. Bob Rodgers, died at her home on October 5, 1915. She was only sick about a week. She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her death.
Weep not, dear husband and children, but just live like mother did and meet her in that sweet, heavenly home, where there will be no sickness, sorrow nor parting from loved ones. She said she was going where Jesus was, that happy place.
She called her husband and children to her bedsides while she was dying and told them good-by and to live better. O, remember mother's last words!
She was laid to rest in the Gravley Springs Cemetery, October 6, 1915. Funeral was conducted by Rev. Marion Smith, who spoke touchingly words of the beautiful life of Mrs. Rodgers to the bereaved family and sorrowing friends, after which her remains were laid to rest to sleep that blessed, peaceful sleep from which none ever wake to weep.
Written by her friend,
Pearl Pomeroy.
Note: Pearl Pomeroy and her family died in a fire and are buried here at Gravley Springs.
