Lavada Russell, 72, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at her daughter's residence in Waco. A private service will be 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3, at Waco Memorial Park.

Lavada was born in Loving, Texas, to the late Singleton Brooks Barrett and Linnie Lavada Jones Barrett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Russell; sisters, Lillian Ruth and Dorothy Fay; and brother, Billy Joe Barrett.

Lavada is survived by her sons, Joe Reamy and wife, Cindy, and Dale Reamy and wife, Trish; daughters, Judy Reamy, Janice Waddell and husband, Jeffrey, Jean Courtney and husband, Gary, Veeta Ortiz and Raymond Stewart, Mary Yows and husband, Justin, and Hellen Rasco and husband, Mike; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, May and Mary; brothers, Brooks Jr. and Richard; and several nieces and nephews.

Mom was not actually buried here. She was cremated. We had a family gathering, to say our goodbyes, at her deceased husband's graveside and then her ashes were taken to Port Aransas, the place she loved above all others.
