Mr. Bankson was born May 13, 1926, in Galena. His parents were the late Tone and Felta (sic) [Fleata] Bankson. He attended Galena schools and was employed in area mines. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Pauline Wilson Ray in 1946 and moved to California the same year.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, John F. Bankson, Jr., Garden Grove; one stepson, Wesley Ray, Galena; one brother, Tone Bankson, Buena Park, Calif.; five sisters, Mrs. Mabel Miller, Harbor City, Calif., Mrs. Ann Price, Hawthorne, Calif., Miss Grace Bankson and Mrs. Bernice Cooper, both of Madera, Calif., and Mrs. Phyllis Ashby, Giltner, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
Masonic services and burial were held Feb. 13 in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Cypress, Calif.
