Louis Napoleon Jefferson was the third child of Joseph Jefferson and Euphemia DuBois Jefferson born 15 May 1874 in Springfield, Ma. He was educated in Springfield & West Springfield schools and attended a business school after graduation. Louis married M. Olivine Mireault on 13 July 1896 in Springfield, MA. Together they had 4 children: Albert Joseph born 1896, Frank Charles born 1898, Irene Euphemia born 1901 and Ruth Reta born 1914. Louis worked as an electrician and electric lineman for New England Telephone for several years, 'living to die' a natural death, rather than accidental. After the telephone company deemed him "too old" to work, he took odd jobs trimming & spraying trees. He enjoyed time spent with his son Frank working on Frank's 32 ft. cabin cruiser the Grace M. Father and son captained Connecticut River cruises with family & friends to Long Island, Matunuck & Pt. Judith RI in the early 1920's. In 1936 the Connecticut River flooded the Main St. family home, reaching 18 inches over the floor boards. He and his family barely escaped with their lives, leaving well after evacuation orders. Although it hadn't happened previously, an ice jam cut through the dikes causing the river to flood large areas of West Springfield. The 1936 Flood of the Connecticut River cost Louis Napoleon Jefferson his life. He died due to complications from an enlarged heart on 31 Jul 1936. Louis Napoleon Jefferson was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield.
