Marie Olivine Mireault was the oldest child of Joseph David Mireault and Delphine Laneville Mireault born 24 Apr 1875 in Chertsey, Quebec. Being the oldest of 16 children, she had significant responsibility as to the care and raising of her siblings. At age 12 she was sent to the Convent to 'rest' and to be educated. They worked her hard, but they did educate and clothe her. Olivine immigrated to the Springfield, MA area between 1892-1894. She worked as a maid in Jefferson & Sons Boarding House and Saloon, where she met and married the son of the owner, Louis Napoleon Jefferson on 13 Jul 1896 in Springfield, MA. Olivine & Louis had four children: Albert Joseph born 1896, Frank Charles born 1898, Irene Euphemia born 1901 and Ruth Reta born 1914. Often mistaken for a sister, because of her small stature, Olivine worked hard to feed her family well and provide a loving home. Guests were always welcome at the dinner table, and somehow there was always enough food. When she gathered with any of her sisters, French was the chosen language as they caught up on each others lives while washing and re-washing the same dishes. She and Louis saw to it that their daughters, Irene & Reta, both had college educations. Olivine died 11 Jun 1966 and is buried in Oak Grove with her husband Louis.
