Ruth Reta Jefferson was the fourth and last child born to Louis Napoleon Jefferson and Marie Olivine Mireault Jefferson on 7 Sep 1914. She attended public schools in West Springfield, Ma and graduated from West Springfield High School in 1932. She attended American International College and graduated from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1936. She taught in private schools before teaching in public high school math and science in Windsor Locks, Branford, Fairfield and Milford, CT. She met her husband, George James Nolan, a fellow teacher, at Branford High School. They married in Paris on 16 Aug 1956 and honeymooned in Europe. Ruth left teaching four years later to give birth and raise their only child, Irene Jefferson Nolan. Ruth was a master seamstress, making all of her own and her daughter's clothing, slip covers, curtains and a fully tailored suit for her husband. Ruth Reta Jefferson Nolan died 20 Nov 1999 in Whitney Manor Nursing Home, Hamden, CT.
