COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY ­ 03/17/1988 ­ GEORGETOWN
James R. Higdon Sr., 81, of Rt. 3, Georgetown, died Wednesday at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon. He was a native of Clarkson, KY, a retired mill operator at Reynolds Metals Co. in Louisville and a retired farmer. Survivors: his wife, the former Lillie M. Duncan; five sons, James R. Higdon Jr. of Muncie, Joseph E. & Richard Higdon, both of New Albany, Michael W. Higdon of LaPlace, LA, Robert Higdon of New Salisbury; two daughters, Geraldine Winter of Summerville, SC, and Mary E. Barr of New Salisbury; two brothers, Henry A. Higdon of Louisville and Joe Higdon of Springfield, IL; two sisters, Teresa Bocock of Leitchfield, KY, and Marie Lush of Louisville; 30 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Michael Catholic Church in Bradford, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey after 6 p.m. Thursday.
