Survivors include one brother, Henry, of Louisville, Ky.; and one sister, Marie Lush, of Louisville.
He lived with his cousins, Edgar and Marie Johnson. After the death of Edgar, he helped raise Donna Wilson, of Lincoln; Rudy Johnson, of Riverton; and Delas Johnson, of Middletown.
Three brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Higdon was a retired self-employed truck driver.
His funeral was at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Burial was in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.

MASON CITY -- Joseph H. Higdon, 81, of the Mason City Area Nursing Home, formerly of Middletown, died at 11:18 a.m. Monday at Memorial Medical Center.
Surviving are a brother, Henry of Louisville, Ky., a sister, Marie Lush of Louisville, Ky., and several cousins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, with burial in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
