Clara Bridget, with her parents, Thomas and Bridgete Loftus, her half-sister, Mary and baby brother William, arrived in Boston, MA March 1868. Then moved to Charlestown, MA where Patrick Loftus was born in 1872; the family lived there until 1872 when they rented a covered wagon and traveled west to Denver, CO. After arriving in Denver the family found out that the first train to run to Pueblo, CO would be running as soon as the track was finish. They were one of the first passengers to ride that first train down to Pueblo. From there the family rented another wagon and traveled to Alamosa and settled in the area. Thomas was born in 1872 in Alamosa. Eventually the family moved to Durango. Mary and Clara married and moved their families to Silverton where both ran boarding houses. Clara married Thomas Hastings who died in Feb. 1895.
