Montgomery Melvin, 49, R. 2, Avilla, died Saturday at his home. He had lived in this area the past 24 years and was an employee of Newnam Foundry in Kendallville for 16 years.
He was born Sept. 11, 1932 in Magoffin, Ky. And was the son of John and Martha (Caldwell) Montgomery. He married Eunice Johnson Nov. 26, 1956 in Jackson, Ky.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife and mother, Martha Jane (Caldwell) Montgomery living in Salyersville, Ky.; one son, Melvin Jr., at home; three daughters, Amy and Beverly, at home; and Mrs. Earl (Nora) Terry, R. 2, Kendallville; four sisters, Mrs. Hazel Wager of Ohio and Mrs. Genioa Williams, Mrs. Reva Fugate and Mrs. Lena Howard, all of Salyersville; and four brothers, Ellis, Eldon and Pat, of Salyersville, and Ollie, Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his father, John Riley Montgomery of Salyersville Kentucky.
Services Wednesday in the House of Prayer, Kendallville. Burial, Christian Union Cemetery.
