Landon Carter was one among the most active supporters of the Union cause in Carter County.He was at the burning of the Union Bridge and was Captain of the "Turkey Town Company" in the Carter County rebellion against the Confederate authorities.He served first in Co. C, 4th Tenn. Vol. Infantry [USA] then as Captain of Co. H, 13th Tenn. Vol. Cavalry [USA], until mustering out 5 Sept 1865.
